This
new book has been published to coincide and complement the
Victoria
and Albert Museum's (V&A) exhibtion that opened
on 12th February and runs till the 25th April 2004. It is
the first one at the V&A on contemporary lighting.
The book, Brilliant:
Lights and Lighting, looks at the new range of lights
and lighting coming from designers today.
With the upsurge of interest
in interior design, this little book is bound to be popular.
In it, you can see lamps
of all kinds from bare bulbs on stiff stalks arranged like
an upside down bunch of flowers to the intricate and delicate
Blossom crystal chandelier that looks like a fragile branch
of apple or cherry blossom.
There are lamps made from
latex, perspex, crocheted fabric, aluminium and plastic
film put through an office shredder. All these and more
are beautifully illustrated and described.
Not only does this book give
an insight into the work of contemporary designers, it could
also inspire you to produce your own innovative and unique
lighting.
