The
Life and Work of Henri Matisse
by Paul Flux
Published
by Heinemann Library
Art Key Stage 1
This
beautifully illustrated and written book, The Life and Work
of Henri Matisse, is aimed at children aged between 5 and
7 years.
Although it is simply
written, the story of Henri Matisse, one of the most famous and
successful artists of the 20th century, is told in an easy to
understand way.
The illustrations
show scenes from the life of Matisse as well as examples of his
paintings. The author even explains some of the influences behind
the pictures.
At the back of the
book there is a Timeline of Matisse's life and work and also a
Glossary to explain some of the more difficult words (printed
in bold) in the text.
This is a lovely book
for introducing children to art and painters.
